Ho-ly crap. This is gonna affect so many people. Microsoft better cap this leak fast before more damage is done or they will be patching ala half life 2. Thoughts? I know the system administrator at my school is gonna have fits when he sees this. I for sure will be closing down my w2k comps. Thoughts? POST!

News flash. Hackers have had plenty access to windows source code anyways.

Think about it, (they have day jobs)....

It's just most of them aren't stupid enough to announce it to the world.

Anyways there is already a thread going about on about this.

I so want to click the link (or what should be a link), but I don't want to taint my mind (it's a license thing, not a comment on Microsoft's code... This time).

I think the paranoia about viewing the code is kind of silly. Anything that would be identifyably unique to the windows codebase would probably be too hard to remember after having casually glanced through it. It's pretty hard to find code that's truly unique.

90% of the Windows code is already available to MS partners. The other 10% is WPA and security code and it's probably tucked away in fort knox somewhere. This 15% that was released is from NT and 2ksp1 and is several hundred builds old. It got stolen off a hacked *nix box (ouch!) of an MS partner or so it appears so far.

Slashdot story thinks that the "code" is genuine but is only 650MB
instead of the 30GB it is purported to be. It looks like someone made off with
1 of 5-6 CD's.
