I'm trying to do some VM testbed configuration automation, and having a couple of issues with Windows 2008 that require manual intervention.

1.) Is there any way to configure AutoPlay settings in an unattended install? Basically what I want to do is set "Install or run program from your media" for "Software and games" category.

2.) I can install from a setup.exe in silent mode, but that setup is installing drivers, so I get prompts like these:

Is there any way to disable this prompt?

Edit: I have an msi file also. Would using msiexec with /quiet and/or /passive work? I guess I can try it when I'm in the office tomorrow.

Autoplay may be more difficult to automate. But for tasks like this, look into the Microsoft Deployment toolkit (MDT).

Thanks for the pointer to MDT, but I do not think it will work for this case. Our legal team is not too keen on us redistributing Windows images. This has to be a fresh install.

I do have a solution for the autorun issue. As part of my scripted install, I'm going to install an agent, and a scheduled task to start that agent on boot. The agent will poll the floppy or cdrom device, and execute the installation scripts as they are mounted. Once I'm done installing the necessary software, I'll mount a script to nuke and cleanup the agent.

As far as the driver signing verification dialog goes for unsigned drivers, I might try autoit. I'll update this thread if it works out.
