I have AD installed. I have one DC and the rest of the clients are 2000 and XP machines. I want to sync the time with an eternal source. I realize in AD all PC's need the same time.![]()

my guess would be that he didnt know that the workstations are synching time with the DC and thinks that he needs to set them all to sync with an external source.

hmmm....... does win2k/winxp workstation sync its time with dc automatically ??
I setup logon script ( net time \\<servername> ) so that every workstation is sync'd when they logon.
Yes in AD your domain controllers are set as time servers for the rest of the network and you are supposed to set your DCs to pull from an "external" source

Once again, domain members and servers aren't going to have the GUI tab from the clock. Thats part of the standalone configuration.
