windows 2003 compatibility

I have windows 2003 server edition and I find that certain programs wont run and theys ay that I need this OS or that in order to be able to install. I tried the right clickinga nd changing its compatibility settings under teh compatibility tab and that still wont work, is there anything else that I can do to overcome this problem?
 
i remember using it for a while, and some applications wouldnt work, one i can remember was dreamweaver.

i ende up going back to xp, cause i couldnt get it to work.
