windows 2000 vs windows xp

Title says it all. I have windows 2000 sp4 and am wondering if it would be worthwhile to switch to windows xp. Reason I ask is because I'm getting new hardware (AMD 64 3200 and GF 6800 GT) to replace the old Athlon XP its currently running on.

Computer is pretty much just used for games (WoW, HL2, Doom 3, etc) and photoshop.

In your case I'd say no, don't waste your money. Unless there's a compelling feature you need to use in XP then stick with what you've got.

Besides, you might as well wait for the release of XP 64bit before upgrading, but even thats still a few months away.

For the most part, Win2K will do just about everything XP can do. You can even install the very lastest DirectX 9.0c and .Net Framework 2.0 beta on Win2K.

Plus your copy is already bought and paid for...
