Windows 2000 stalls, why?

At random times, Windows 2000 stalls, but I have noticed that if I am playing music it remains playing, but the mouse and keyboard are completely unresponsive and the video stalls. Why and what can I do to fix this? I have every update available for Windows 2k and the latest drivers for all my parts but it still occurs, any suggestions for a fix here? I am guessing it's specifically video card related. I have a Asus V7700, what's the problem?

Well I know it's not my video card now, I plugged in an older model TNT1 and it did the same thing........

I had the same problem too... seemed to be Win2k IRQ management was crap. I just reinstalled Win2k but disabled ACPI and everything is fine now.

I had the same problem with my A7V... it was a mix of 2 problems. If you are using 1004 BIOS turn OFF optimal in the BIOS, also if you have multiple sticks of RAM try taking them out 1 at a time. One of my generic RAM sticks was also causing this problem.
