Windows 2000 server - I just had got spam thru windows messaging service...help

I run windows 2000 server on one of my pc's and it acts as a part of my lab for my mcse study as well as my dialup internet gateway server. Earlier today I got a little windows messaging popup about getting a university diploma....very similar to spam i get in my email. Has my system been comprimised? Theres nothing on there except 2000 server and some applications, no sensetive data...but it still alarmed and troubled me. Can someone shed some light.... also i used to have a site bookmarked that had a search box for known security bugs and exploits (not how to but how to do it but how to fix them)...anyone know?
