Windows 2000 Question

Hi,

I have Win2K with all the patches, office patches installed, my problem is that everytime I go to the start menu a dialog box appears: "Explorer.exe has generated errors and it will be closed by windows. You will need to restart the program. An error log is being created" Could this be a memory problem?

Thanks.

If it's a clean install of everything (assuming none of it is pirated), then yes, it most likely is a hardware related issue. Whether it's a memory problem or even if you updated with an unstable driver.

I'd lean more towards the memory side ... try replacing it for an hour and see what happens.

From my experience, Win2K and WinXP rarely ever crash, and if they do, it's either b/c of another piece of errant software or hardware problems.

I hope I was of some help and we'd like to hear what pans out.
