Have I understood this right?

I make an emergency repair disk. Then if I reinstall windows 2000, and afterwards use the repair disk, all my applications will be accessible just as before. Games, utilities etc.

Are you installing Windows on a fresh drive or just re-installing on top of an existing install? The ERD is meant to recover a windows system that can no longer boot. It backs up system files, the boot sector and the startup environment.
