windows 2000 odd problem

this is an odd problem, not really all that important, but annoying nonetheless.

when i drag my mouse to select more than one icon, with that rectangle drawn, it gets "stuck" on the screen. I can still select what i want, but the rectangle will be stuck somewhere on the screen somewhere before i finished my click and drag. I can have multiple rectangles on the screen, and in fact if i do a screen capture, you can see the rectangles, but if i refresh the screen, they will go way, till i start trying to select multiple items on the desktop again...

do you guys know of any solutions or workarounds? or has this even happened to any of you?

I've seen it before, and usually it is due to buggy video card drivers. Make sure that you have the latest version of your video card drivers, and ensure that you have installed Windows 2000 Service Pack 3.

hm, thanks for the heads up, i have very recent drivers, i will check later to see if they are the newest. other than that, i have the sp3 and everything else from windowsupdate. thanks for the info.
