Windows 2000 Memory Usage

I have win2k pro installed on my P3 866 system with 128MB PC133 SDRAM. I have 190MB of virtual mem on my HDD. Everytime I run a program, it tries to use as much virtual memory as possible. I use task manager and I see that I have like 64MB of physical memory free, always, and I frequently runs out of virtual mem and it wants to increase the paging file, even when i have plenty of free physical RAM. Is there a way to make Win2k to try to use up all physical memory before virtual memory?

In your SYSTEM.INI file, in the [386Enh] section, add this line:
ConservativeSwapfileUsage=1

It does not matter where you place it as long as it's in that section. Then restart your PC.

that works for win2k too? I thought it was on a 9x thing...if it does then I will HAVE to try it! 🙂

hey kappo.... post again on the forum if that ConservativeSwapFile usage tweak works in Win2k, ok? thanks.
