Windows 2000 Internet Sharing - HELP!

This is complicated (just a warning).

I have QWest DSL "Select", which uses an Intel internal modem and dial-up-networking to connect. My main PC is running Windows 2K, and contains this Intel card, and a NIC set to IP address 192.168.0.1. That nic is connected to a hub, on which two Windows 98 computers are also attached. Those two computers are set up to request an IP address. The Qwest dial-up connection is set to use internet sharing on Lan Connection 1. Everything works fine in this configuration. The client PC's can connect to the internet fine.

Now for the hard part.

I have a PC upstairs, and it is not feasible to run an ethernet cable up there. So I had the brilliant idea of getting two phoneline nics. I put one phoneline card in the upstairs PC, and the other in my main box (described above). They see each other just fine for file/printer sharing.

Here is the problem. I cannot get the upstairs PC to connect to the internet. The Qwest DSL dial up is sharing on Lan Connection 1, and the phoneline network is set up as "Lan Connection 2". If I try to make a copy of the Qwest dial up connection, it won't let me change sharing to use LAN connection 2. It only allows ONE lan connection or the other.

How can I get the upstairs PC to connect to the internet?

use win2k internet sharing... do a search for it in the help... it should get it set up for you then i think you just need to install the protocol on ur maching upstairs and it should work... give it a try i can't really tell tho cuz i don't know everything about ur setup

I *AM* using internet sharing already. The problem is, you can only use it on one network. I have two separate networks on one PC (one ethernet, one phoneline). I can only share accross one or the other, not both!

go download sygate... and set that one up for the second nic... (you can pick your internal network and your internet connection)
the evaluation copy should work but you might have to purchase it after it ends

Are you using your phone line for the upstairs PC? You may have to put a filter on it for that box in order to access the DSL. Just a thought -

Sort of sticking my head under the tent here...but could you give a little more infor on sygate? Where, what, etc.

Thanks,

go to their download section and download the home version... you have to install it as the server on the comp w/ the net connection and as a client on the other computers... i think the limit is 3 computers unless you buy the software and i think it has a month limit on it... but try it and if you like it then buy...
