Windows 2000 Install problem! Yikes!

OK, i got win2k pro OEM full version. I just put together my new computer today, so I start installing windows. I fdisk and format with a win98 startup disk, so i have access to a C:\ and E:\ drive. After the DOS copying of all my win2k files onto the hard drive, it tells me to restart to finish the installation, but when i get back into installation i get a "STOP: Inaccessible_Boot_Device" There's only one hard drive installed, i dont know what the problem is. I've gotten this far with my sparse windows2k knowledge, but I'm stuck here. Anyone got a clue?😱

After booting it asks me to choose between "windows" and "Windows 2000 Setup/Installation". I choose in installation then i get the error a few seconds into it

Couple of suggestions.
Boot the cd, use the installer to blow away the disk partitions and then remake them under 2000.
Check to to see if you virus checkling enabled in the MB bios, if so turn it off.
The other thing I thought of is what type of drive/controller setup do you have? 2000 may need a driver loaded for at install.

I'm using IBM Deskstars, but i only have 45 hooked up now. I think the drivers may already be on the disk but who knows. I'm gonna go try out all this stuff now.

Did you set an active partion using FDISK? I had the same problem with setuping up windows NT, I had forgoten to put a active boot partion. 🙂 hope this helps.

Whoops, turns out i had the hard drive plugged into the RAID controller. I don't have any RAID setup yet. So i put it back into the IDE1 connector and it worked fine. Now I'm stuck with trying to install my Elsa Gloria 2 card (OEM). Kinda hard with just a sparce amount of drivers, without any win2k skrills. Oh well, here goes nothing.
