when i run windows explorer (file manager)... the view is set to ICON mode even thought i keep changing it to DETAIL mode... how do i make it default to DETAIL mode?


and also in windows explorer.... when i run it... it opens up my "My Documents" folder .. how do i make iot stop doing that?

I would like the find out as well. I'm trying to make the "Auto Arrange" function stick.


I just made a shortcut to wherever I want to start and put it in My Documents. But yeah, it's another click.


You can also change the shortcut from "explorer.exe" to "explorer.exe C:\" if you want it to start at drive C, but it doesn't show the folders pane when you do that.

Open explorer:
Open any folder---change the view to DETAIL
-Now click---Tools--Folder Options---VIEW tab---LIKE CURRENT FOLDER

Now close explorer, next time you open it the default will be DETAIL.


The My Documents problem?

Solution#1:
Right click on My Computer---select EXPLORE
It opens explorer with the my computer selection...instead of the My Documents.

Solution#2:
Fix the Windows Explorer Shortcut...sorry way too much typing-(lol...) just use solution#1

the solution one only works if you keep right clicking my computer and going to explore. what if you have an icon on the desktop?

Ok, i found the fix..

Modify the shortcut with this....(right-click, select properties)

Place this in the TARGET field: %SystemRoot%\explorer.exe /e, /root, (C

whats the path to my computer? i put in <<< C:\WINDOWS\explorer.exe C: >>> and i goes to C:\ drive like its supposed to, anyone know how to get it opening to my computer? TIA
