Windows 2000 and Direct x....

I'm running a dual boot system using windows 98 se and windows 2000. I can't get any versions of direct x to work, and therefore, most of my games will not run properly. Was wondering if I need to reconfigure something, or a patch, or find a specific version of direct x for windows 2000

Is this a common problem?

Also, when surfing the net with windows 2000, A lot of pages get cut off at the bottom, just leaving a short HTML tag...is this related to the direct x problem?

i've run directX 7 and 8 on my win2k / 98 box with no problems (using the same .exe DX setup for both OS's), and i've never heard of needing a certain version specifically for win2k...

of course, this doesn't really help your problem, but might help your troubleshooting

There is a directx version out there just for Win2K. Try that. Its surprising that Win2K allowed you to install a version of DirectX inteded for Win98SE.

huh. guess i'm wrong bout that 98/2k sharing Directx! but i definitely don't have problems running it on win2k.
