Hi there!!
I'm having some problems with Windows2000 ad server lately.
This is my configuration:

-PIII 9333Mhz
-128 SDRAM
-ASUS CUV4X
-Sound Blaster Live Value
-network card Macronix MX98175 Family
-Voodoo 3 3000 PCI

And sometimes the computer crashes.... suddenly without explanation.......
It happened 4 times today.... What's wrong with it?
Do you guys know how to fix this? Any ideas?

Thanks a LOT

What are you doing when it crashes? Any error messages? Is it a memory dump or does it just lock up? And you need more ram.

Yeah do yourself a favor and ask yourself why you are running an OS such as advanced server to do such common things as checking e-mail and using winamp? On top of that why are you running it with only 128MB when 256MB is recommended. Try to shut down some of the sevices(processes) that run in the background. Shutting down unneeded services(processes) will free up system resources which might be the cause of your problems.

Surely you might have gotten it at a good price, or in some other manner, But do you really need to run Advanced Server on a standalone machine. Win2K Professional would be more than sufficent for your needs.

I think I fixed the problem, some VIA updates and it's working fine now!
About the ordinary stuff.... Like Winamp and e-mail check was just an example of how things were bad here..... if it frezzes with simple stuff...that means problem right?
And about the RAM, yeah... maybe I'll get an update later, but to 512.....

Anyway thanks

WTF you running Win2K Advanced server on a stand alone machine for??? Talk about total overkill. Kind of a costly investment for one machine?

hehe. Last week I lost my W2K Pro Cd's. So I went and installed Advanced Server. I keep getting memory dumps. I just got my W2K Pro Cd's. Went back to Pro and all is well now. Hey AUSM have you ever thought that he might have the HOT KITS from Microsoft. I mean people were flaming me for pirating software when I didn't tell them that I got the kits from Microsoft.

I use it on my computer with no problems. I would recomend at least 256mb ram. The only reason I use it becasue its advanced options for IIS.
