That's why I back up my important data on a regular basis and perform a clean install when issues like that arise.
Yeah, that's the best way to do it.
Although the fix depends on the situation. I do a lot of work for DCC people (engineers, artists, etc.) & to do a full re-install of the Adobe suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.) plus all of their CGI stuff, get everything licensed, activated, registered, and patched, and so on, can take half a day to full day depending on if you're installing from files, downloading the installers from online, or digitized on a USB drive, how fast their connection is, etc. And most people are not organized at all, have no idea where their licenses or install media is & have no idea what they even have on their hard drive, so it gets...fun. lol.
