Windows 10 Wireless Mouse Bug

First off, I am very glad I only have Windows 10 on laptops for T&E purposes... in my opinion, it is not ready for a production environment. It seems that at least once a month an automatic update breaks something. Which would be unacceptable on my desktops or my work machine. But is okay for my laptops.

The latest issue I am encountering is that plugging in my wireless mouse USB receiver triggers an issue with left-click not being recognized on the taskbar, Start Menu, explorer windows, etc. It registers in non-Windows apps after using ALT+TAB to get a window into focus. The issue persists through removing the USB receiver, CTRL+ALT+DEL, etc. It is only resolved by removing the receiver and rebooting Windows (using keyboard shortcuts). The built-in touchpad works correctly after the reboot, but plugging a wireless mouse in does the same thing.

My suspicion is the latest version of the "HID-compliant mouse" driver is incompatible with my Logitech wireless mouse, though trying a few dozen other drivers doesn't appear to fix it. In any event, I will try using a wired mouse as well as additional wireless mice to see if I can further narrow down the issue.

Any advice on things to try would be appreciated.

P.S. Wireless mouse works fine on Windows 7 desktop, Windows XP desktop, and a Linux (Mint) machine.

No proof its a windows error......
 
I got a MS wireless mouse on one machine with win 10, no issues with it using the generic driver MS provides.
 
Maybe people should try the official drivers!

With that said, I've had issues where input would not get taken in the start menu, and a reboot is required. Windows 10 does still have some quirks, but my wireless logitech mouse has never been one of them.
