Why did update decided to put everything back??? all my setting and tweak Gone south, Dam!
HO! and why now is it taking up to 12% memory on idle. Dam!

my bad. ok i did remove Xbox. cortica.maps.and more, and installed clasic shell.all of it came back after windows update and clasic shell gone?????

Now was it the Anniversary update or was it the October cumulative update?

The only reason why I ask is because the Anniversary Update will reset those items as it is essentially a new install of windows.
They said that they are working on this for the future Feature Updates(What the AU is called) so as not to reset most of the user settings.
This probably wont take effect till the next release or the one after

If it was the October CU then that is odd as I had not heard of that stuff being reset

I did have to change a few things back to the way I had them with the Anniversary update. While I hope they do fix this, much like the ad shifting forum pages down, I wouldn't hold my breath.

I was commenting on the forum page's default action, not my ad blocker, which is the only way to view the forums without getting irritated, lol.

i still haven't gotten that anniversary update on my main comp - the other 4 comps in the house have

im not upset about that

At least your system works... I just had to system restart due to Windows 10 update and it bricked my entire system 🙁 wont boot into windows for nothing. I even tried the recovery and safe mode and nothing is working. after it reboots into safe mode or recovery mode it just sites there on a black screen with the dots going in a circle at the bottom of the screen.Worked fine for months and now this.
Guess I gotta go back to Windows 7 or Ubuntu 🙁

First Run Disk Cleaner choose the Option clean Up system File. Check every thing

After the Cleaning check that there at least 16 GB of free space available on the SSD/HD of the computer.

At the Update Setting Click on Advanced Options.

If the Give me Updates to other Microsoft Products...
And defer Updates are checked, UnCheck them. Then go back a screen and initiate Manually the Update.

Not always this Help, but many times it did.

I just recently re-installed, with a fresh copy of Win10 1607 Home, and this box has a G4400 @ 4.45Ghz, and a 7950 3GB.

I was about to comment that my scrolling is choppy in my web browser, as bad as Linux is on my lesser machines.

Then I remembered that was doing DC on my video card. Still, I was before I re-formatted, and I don't remember any visible browser lag from it.

Edit: Hmm. Nope. I set my DC to stop doing it on the GPU while the PC was in use, and I still don't have my glass-smooth scrolling back. There's visible tearing when scrolling. Weird.

I'm probably not using the same Radeon Crimson drivers that I was using before. The current ones were automagically installed, when I re-installed Win10.

Edit: I think I must have had a GPU crash while the PC was sleeping, or perhaps when it was woken up.
I had to re-start GPU-Z, as the sensors for clocks and temps weren't reading at all. I re-started Waterfox, and the hardware scrolling came back.

More strangeness with Win10!

Just click the "Learn More" link on the Windows Update window there. Near the top of the page it will load up will be a "Get the Anniversary Update Now" link.

I don't remember exactly how I came across that tool but it worked on all 7 pc's I've tried it on. I was using the media creation tool and even it balked on my laptop which had a clean install of 1511 on it as it tried to wipe out all of my installed software. The upgrade assistant worked flawlessly and upgraded it without any hassles.

that worked and the comp updated without issue

still somewhat curious as to why it never showed up through normal Win Update

They have a list of hardware that is acceptable and if it does not meet it, it will not get pushed through windows updates. I have no idea what is required or whats listed as acceptable hardware but you may have been hit with it and that's why it did not show up
