Let me give a little background. I am a windows user. I have tried android and ipads but keep coming back to Windows. I got the i5, 128GB Surface Pro 3 in July and loved it. However for a pure tablet use, it was overkill. I was mainly using it for browsing, ebooks, netflix, kodi and windows 10 gaming. The type cover I got stayed in the box and the pen too.

After much debate, I sold the SP3 Pro. So now I am on the look out for a replacement. I need something that can be held in 1 hand, has a nice resolution and screen preferably > 1080p, and good construction. Right now I am leaning towards the SP3. Will the 64GB, 2GB Ram serve my purpose or is there a 3rd party tablet that I should know about?
 
I'm getting a little confused by your acronyms, so I'm just trying to clarify... You sold the surface pro 3 and you're asking if the surface 3 is good enough? (You keep typing SP3 which means surface pro 3... but you wouldn't be leaning towards a surface pro 3 if you just sold a surface pro 3).

Anyway, the surface 3 should be fine. I'm not sure what kind of gaming you mean which could limit you a bit, but for everything else you should be okay.
 
I returned my SP3, because I wanted something that would be better as a tablet (SP3 too big and awkward).

I got the Surface 3 when it came out, the 4GB/128GB model for $600 (Plus $130 keyboard, and $50 pen). I loved it at first. But over time I've had a little buyer's remorse.

Biggest complaint is I think the performance of the Surface 3 is severely held back by the very slow eMMC internal storage. I was not expecting SSD speeds of course like the SP3. But even by eMMC standards this seems awfully slow.

I spent about $800 on this tablet with keyboard and pen. And ended up rarely using the pen and the keyboard has a lot to be desired. I sometimes think I should have just spent $400 on an ASUS Transformerbook Chi or Acer Switch, both include keyboard.

lol I didnt realize till I read it again. Yes I meant the Surface 3. My gaming is just the games in the windows store, nothing too fancy. I have a desktop for the latest and greatest. This is just when I am lying in bed and dont feel like sitting in front of my desktop PC.

I agree with rayvnmagi that the storage is slow, but also add that charging is slow too. Other than those 2 issues, Surface 3 is great. Get the 4GB RAM version. Screen and build quality are top notch. Kickstand is great. it is $$ though compared to other brands, but I personally think it is worth it.

BTW: MS makes a Surface 3 with 64GB / 4GB RAM for businesses. You can buy it from CDW ($50 more than the home version with 64GB/2GB RAM). Comes with Windows Pro instead of Home, but doesn't include the 1yr Office 365. You can probably find a better deal on the 128GB/4GB model though through various discounts/cashback, etc. Just want to make people aware of it.
 
I have a Lenovo Win10 tablet. It is pretty small, has a great display and does the basics quite well.
