For what it's worth, I've had no problems with an Intel SSD 520, which is a Sandforce 2xxx drive.

As for suggestions on new drives, either a Samsung 850 EVO or a Crucial MX100/MX200.

Nice to hear. However, I've just done a (relatively) clean install of Windows 7 Home on that machine. Windows 7 had no problems installing at all, using my machine's recovery disks, that brings it the factory install (with added OEM junk). Hopefully it's updating now while I'm at work. When I get home, if the updates are complete, I'll try installing Win 10 just one more time again over that clean install.

In truth, I'm not even sure why I'm investing so much time in that machine, since I don't even use it much. I guess part of it is because the few times I use it, I hate its lack of responsiveness. Win 10 just feels speedier on low end hardware, and this one is a dual-core Atom 1.6 GHz.

Win 10 works on both my Samsung 850 EVO and older Intel X25 40GB SSD (although I don't have the Intel toolbox installed, but I should do that).

And Win 10 seems much slower than 8.1 on my Z3770 tablet.

My Atom machine is 3.1 GB, laptop 4 GB, and desktop is 8 GB. Only installed Win 10 on the laptop so far and it's more responsive than before, but that was compared to 7, not 8.1.

hope it fixes my RDP issue and i noticed another issue of my NIC either losing its mind or going into sleep mode around 6:30. it happened 2 days ago and i thought i did it by messing something up trying to get RDP working, but it did it again yesterday while i was booking a flight. a reboot fixed both incidents.

Win 10-64 is working well on both rigs below. I participated in the preview build since last October so I'm used to new builds.

works fine on my Surface 3, though I have the 4GB RAM model. Could also be missing drivers.

Sounds good to me, I still run a couple older Sammy 850 EVO's in RAID0 on the main and put a Crucial BX100 on the little X5650 HTPC in the bedroom not long ago, they are both WIN X now.

My sister in law needed to rebuild hers a short time ago, the old dual Raptors I put in there originally finally died.

I stuck a Crucial MX200 in theirs and fixed it up, they love it now, but they aren't using WIN X yet I think.

My Pentium SU4100 runs Win 10 OK. It's not fast, but is quite usable, and it's better than it was on Windows 7.

I don't know how they compare real-world, but your TK-57 actually outperforms my SU4100 slightly in Passmark:

It's Win 10 32bit, the tablet has 2GB ram and 1.33GHz (I think clocks to 1.83GHz). But yeah I wonder if the 2GB is the limitation, wasn't a problem in 8.1.

Cheap SSD in my old lappy but I think it's maxed at 2gb of ram.

I'm almost at the point where I'd replace my SSD with a platter drive and then reinstalling Win 7 to see if Win 10 installs over that, because the upgrade on my current setup always fails. Win 7 works perfectly, and I've done mem tests too.

Just like some predicted, it is not the SSD, so I don't need a new one. I get the same install failure on a platter drive. However one drive I found for cheap locally is the Sandisk Ultra Plus with Marvell controller. I'd consider buying that as it is currently on sale, and it has very low power utilization. I don't care about raw transfer speed as much.

The 1810TZ is a great little lap top with a few tweaks. I'm amazed that I haven't needed to shoot the thing yet!

Just to clarify I understand this correctly - there will be a new ISO with SR1 released in the next week or so for Win 10 Enterprise? We just got the RTM version but I'll hold off upgrading some machines until then if we're getting new ISOs.

I definitely need a service pack for my desktop in order to make it work on 10 but I am not willing to chance anything again until I can get some feedback that the issues have been corrected. Having my clean install drop dead yesterday really set me off especially since it was a clean install. So far my tablet is still the only pc I have that is running 10 without any issues. Both of them were able to accept the cumulative update today without problems. My moms hp fails every time it tries to install it. At least on 8.1 pro my keyboards work like they're supposed to and don't go awol while I am typing.

Quick question about your TZ.

Hows the touchpad scrolling working? Mine works ok in Chrome, I can two finger scroll down web pages or do the edge scroll with a twisty motion (chiral scrolling?) but scrolling seems broken in other apps.

Can you open the photos app and try scrolling in that?

If it works can you tell me what touchpad drivers you are using?

Its incredibly annoying having the touchpad work differently in different apps.

Edit: It seems broken in all 'modern' apps, but just those.

Works fine in Photos, but Photos has a weird scrolling interface. I don't like it. You scroll down and it goes sideways to get other photos in the directory or to get the slideshow option. If you get to the end, it scrolls down to show the image specs.

However, scrolling up and down to view the zoomed image works fine. I don't think I have it set to scroll sideways, since sideways scrolling doesn't work for anything. (I generally turn this off because I often inadvertently scroll sideways if it's on, and I hate that.)

Maybe I need to play with the Photos settings and/or the scrollpad settings.

Driver is the Synaptics driver. Dunno if this is the original or not, but it was the one I was using in Win 7 lately. Dunno if the version was updated for Win 10 either. See pic.

I note though at the bottom of the dialogue box there is a link to a Synaptics Windows 10 preview site, so perhaps this indeed is an updated version for Win 10.

I just checked and that link above leads to a webpage that just says it's under construction. They don't list any Windows 10 drivers yet, but they do have Win Vista to 8 drivers on their site:

But then they recommend using the laptop manufacturer's drivers.

I didn't wait for the SR1 ISO. What I finally did was to do a clean install of Windows 7. After that, the install to Windows 10 worked fine. So, I guess the installer just didn't like my software/driver configuration for some strange reason.

Who knows if the SR1 ISO would have worked, but it's moot now.
