The only news is that they've changed the nomenclature from SP (Service Pack) to SR (Service Release). This might be to signify a more rapid cadence.

I think that is a very one-sided way to look at it. There are also things that people are voicing that they don't like. Some may be redone here. I think it's good to have an SR out this early, giving people an idea of what to expect.

Why wouldn't they? The majority of install come from a downloaded ISO; it's not like they need to ship DVDs out to all of their OEM partners, and IT departments across the land. Why not move to a rolling release, and regularly update the ISO? Makes the install process cleaner, as you don't need to install a bunch of updates afterwards.

Luckily, corporates can update Windows 10 Enterprise on their own watch. If it's push update, Windows engineers will be scrambling to keep up.

Sweet. Progress is progress. Hopefully they start working through all of the complaints people have about settings. Other than that and a few minor hiccups Windows 10 has been a good experience for me. I'm not planning on going back with any of our machines.

Okay? You still haven't made a point other than Windows 10 has issues/bugs so Microsoft is fixing those bugs/issues. Amazing!

The service release is just the next build and I'm guessing the update process being no different then what we saw in the preview program when upgrading builds, which was a pretty uneventful (although long) process.

So, when Microsoft started issuing discs with SP1a side loaded, does that mean XP was crap? It's just more efficient. If you have a lot of updates, go ahead and incorporate them into the install data to save the system time later.

We used to slipstream updates into install iso's. It was a pita. I could die happy never having to do such again myself.

I'm almost at the point where I'd replace my SSD with a platter drive and then reinstalling Win 7 to see if Win 10 installs over that, because the upgrade on my current setup always fails. Win 7 works perfectly, and I've done mem tests too.

BTW, the SSD is now gone. I wonder if this thing just doesn't like Sandforce SSDs.

We shall see. I've now begun the install process on a platter drive. Fingers crossed.

If it works, any suggestions for a non-Sandforce 120-128 GB SSD?
