Is there any way to pin applications to the taskbar on my 2nd monitor? I normally keep Outlook open on the 2nd monitor and have it pinned to the taskbar, but would like it pinned to the taskbar of the monitor I use it on.

The only way I know is to use 3rd-party software. I use Displayfusion and it works pretty well.

Thanks. Works nicely. I wish I could find a simple utility for this. DisplayFusion has too much in it.

The next windows 10 update (no idea when they plan to release it to all win 10 users or what they will call it) should fix this as well.
So, that above will work, until the time MS releases the next win 10 edition.

... But it's about software that will do what I was asking for that Windows doesn't do on its own yet

You didn't ask about software.

You asked about how to pin applications to a 2nd monitor's taskbar and were then informed you would need 3rd party software to do so.

You didn't ask about software.

You asked about how to pin applications to a 2nd monitor's taskbar and were then informed you would need 3rd party software to do so.

Different applications handle this differently under a given OS (assume Win7). Windows Media Center asks you, and gives you a chance, to dedicate a 2nd monitor to it. You can even restore the WMC window from full-screen, and then drag it to the other monitor, but it will always start on the second monitor.

A lot of these crossroads about "which forum to use" are close calls. And the solution to our friend's problem was -- indeed -- "Software."

Now, if I decided to post a thread here about how I got laid at the LA County Fair after dark in the parking lot, I'd not only expect a complaint or criticism -- I'd expect a lot worse for my participation here.
