how do you get your windows 8 key-->8.1 for clean install with iso? I tried that "wmic path softwarelicensingservice get OA3xOriginalProductKey" command that is posted online but it does not work for me.

what is the advantage of clean install over upgrade?

No upgrade is ever 100% efficient or smooth. Your PC will always be faster /w a fresh install. Little things are missed in a upgrade etc.. which can cause issues immediately or down the road.

You can dl the iso from any computer using the Microsoft media creator tool and then burn it to a disc with the windows burning tool.

/me looks at my traffic logs...
I see this:
software-download.microsoft.com/pr/Win10_English_x64.iso?t=f7639f22-d112-406d-acf0-661b4176e7b3&e=1438234269&h=c94434dda0eea54356bfdb128a16317e

64bit Home/PRO, English version obviously.
You can chose. Burn directly to a USB drive or download the ISO.

I choose an ISO and got a typical ISO file.

It's also available via MSDN officialy and a crapload of other unofficial sites like mydigitallife and so on.

BTW, for the people that are getting it via the media creation tool, note that it don't double check to make sure you really want to format & install the image, it just does it.
So, make SURE you select the correct flash drive!

PS, hope nobody using the media creation tool gets this

So all my programs, steam games, etc will need to be reinstalled?

I ran the tool on http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10 without creating an ISO and at the end it gave me the options of (and I'm paraphrasing)
1) Carrying over my files and apps.
2) Carrying over just files
3) Carrying over nothing
It looks like you can do a clean install from the tool without the need to create recovery media, and then you don't need to worry about having a key that will work with the Windows 10 install.
