Windows 10: Home or Professional for Kodi?

I'm right now using OpenELEC 7 beta 3 on my Intel Skylake i3 NUC but want to switch to Kodi to see if it clears up the artifacting (squares flashing during certain scenes) with the VC1 encoded mkv files I was playing in OpenELEC 7 beta 3 when VC1-VAAPI hardware acceleration is turned on. I would hate to spend the money on Windows 10 and to only find out that it does not fix the issue I had with OpenELEC 7 beta 3. I read that Windows 10 Home does not allow disabling automatic updates but Windows 10 Professional does. My concern is that while Windows 10 Home is downloading updates through my network, will it interfere with streaming my 20-40GB mkv files, not leave enough bandwidth left for local streaming from my PC to my NUC? I'm using a 10/100 network switch between my PC and NUC. Should I spend more and get the Professional edition just so that I can avoid auto updates.

I think the odds of this being an actual problem are extremely low. But yes, if you did want to delay updates, then you'd need Pro.

You can configure "active hours" in Windows 10 now to reduce the impact of updates. And keep in mind updates generally happen when the machine is considered idle. I just tend to manually hit Windows Update on Patch Tuesday to get them out of the way on my terms.

You're trying to stream uncompressed mkv's over 10/100?
