Windows 10 freezing.

This problem has been occurring more frequently now. Windows 10 has been freezing up at random times whenever I use it. It could either be when I'm doing something or not. In fact its worse If I'm not using the PC at the moment but I have it on. I come no more than 5 minutes and the PC froze.
It must be Win10 because before this upgrade I haven't had this problem at all in Win7. My PC is clean and healthy PC. 🙂 I'm always careful and caution about viruses and malware. So I can't have that.

Anyone else experience this or know of a way to fix it?
 
Yeah, probably need some idea as to what your specs are.

Once generally good idea is to look and see if any of you hardware has a Windows 10 driver on the manufacturer's website, and install it if it's the one that Windows is currently using.

Also make a note of any hardware that doesn't have a Windows 10 driver and make sure Windows is using a decent (e.g. correct for that hardware) driver for it.
 
Okay, so I did an upgrade from 7.

And my Specs are (don't laugh):

Dell Insripon 531 Desktop
Processor: AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4400+ 2.30 GHz
4 GB of RAM
64-bit of raggedy Win10
Graphics Card: AMD Readoen 5450 "HD" (Not even) Grhapics with 1 GB of memory and I think a speed of 400 MhZ???

That's all I could find out. Try to laugh, or giggle, whatever. 🙂 There you go.

What is a safe mode? (I find nothing safe about Win10 now)
 
I too had issues with my desktop when I upgraded from 8.1. Only after I performed a clean install did 10 behave correctly for me so you might consider doing that.

They do have some windows 10 drivers for older cards, but, all the new drivers are only for GCN GPUs.
So, best bet if OP wants to keep that card is to stick with win 7.
It isn't like that card can do DX12 anyway...so OP should go back to previous OS for now, and when they finally get a newer card, they can have win 10 ready.
 
I have plenty of issues with Windows 10 myself. It bsod on me countless times, gave me dozens of updates failure which prevented my PC from shutting down, and not to mention driver issues which force me to search online for hours looking for the right driver for my USB network adaptor just to connect to the internet. What's more, plenty of Microsoft sign in issue. I couldn't sign into Microsof or the App Store unless I completely delete my user account and create a new one. However, freezing is never one of them. The OS is extremely responsive. Ever since I upgrade to an ssd and move the system onto it, not even start up gives me lag anymore. That's one chief reason why I haven't jump ship to Linux yet. Not sure why windows freeze in your PC, it never did on mine despite BSOD and corrupt update install.

Had same issue. Went back to 7. Rock stable again. Will try again in couple weeks and hope for the best.
 
So the graphics card is the culprit. Of course. GOD! I need a new PC f***ing desperately! Ugh! 😡

I say this because my PC froze in the middle of this post... Again... :|
 
Just roll back to 7 for now. Plenty of life left in that OS. 10 will still be around when you are ready.
 
If you can't roll back through settings, look for a restore point from before the upgrade. I have seen a couple forum members tell us that this works.

I can't find a restore point before the upgrade! :'( I swear this has become the worst day!
 
Well, that explains where your win 7 went then.

Best thing to do now is download win 7 (from a trusted source), and reinstall that.

I'm not worry about my files, I got a drive for that. Just that whole genuine passing thing.
 
I was having all kinds of bsd with Win 10 with my X58 chipset, Xeon x5660, clean install. Tried 2 different times with a clean install. Nothing but problems. Windows 7 is rock solid with this system. I'm going to be buying a new pc soon (SM X10SRA-F, E5 1650v3, ddr4 RDIMM). I'll try it again when I upgrade...

So I'm assuming you bought your PC rather than built it right? If that's the case, then you probably had an OEM license. If you can find it, then you can just download the ISO directly from Microsoft..

If you can't find it, you can buy a cheap OEM license from eBay or something. Shouldn't cost much money at all. Or, you can buy or build a new PC.

I'd say it's about time for an upgrade 😎
