Window xp restarts out of nowhere with K7T266 Pro2-Ru

I think the problem has something to do with my xp instead of the motherboard. It didn't happen before when I had xp installed the first time. However, after I format it and install it over, the os restarts itself, especially when I am up on the net. I am using a dial-up connection so can anybody have guess on what the problem might be?
Help please!!! I can't stand these restart.

how many ram sticks? i get save dumps if i have more than 1 stick in my kt266 pro2. returned both the board and one of the sticks and it is a lot less often than it was, but it still happens every other day or so.

<<psu 300 generic>>

That's most likely what your problem is.

I have used more than a dozen K7T266 Pro2s with at least two Crucial PC2100 sticks with no problems in WinXP.

what power supply are you useing? is it amd approved? are you on dial up or broad band? either way (broad band or dial up)change the location of the pci card(modem or nic). different pci slots share interupts, read the manual it says which ones share what interrupts. i have one of these boards and it is sweet. i reboot once a week just to keep it fresh. other than that it is rock solid.

That generic 300W supply, as others have said, is the most likely culprit.

That said, don't overlook other system components. RAM, cooling, etc. There's a wide range of possibilities, but I'd start with the power supply.

Do you have XP set to automatically restart on system failure ? If so disable that so you can at least get some blue screen info.

Check the event logs after the crash and see what error messages you get. Also make sure you have the latest BIOS and chipset drivers for your system and the latest WHQL drivers for all of your other hardware components. In addition don't overclock anything and don't tweak your BIOS too aggressively.

as a matter of fact, I have one crucial 256mb 2100ddr
The message I got from the BSOD is Driver_IRQL_NOT_Less_or_Equal
there is also the techical error which I don't understand at all:
*** STOP: 0x0000000D (0x00000000, 0x00000002, 0x00000000, 0x00000000)

and after the restart, I get this:
*** STOP: 0x000000D1 (0x00000004, 0x00000005, 0x00000000, 0xF9773452)
I hope that helps and thanks a lot for the suggestions

Oh yeah, the bios was updated and I did not oc anything.
But I just thought of something, could it be that I have some programs running in a fat32 partition while the os is on NTSF?

I am thinking about replacing my psu with this one here:
TTGI TT-300SS 320W ATX12V Dual Fans PSu
How would you guys rate this one?
I like inexpensive and quiet power supplies.

I have a MSI K7T266 Turbo Limited and have the same problems. It restarts all the time, espcially when I am installing something or starting a program. I get the IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL blue screen. I have switched PCI devices and can't figure it out.

AMD 1.2 Athlon
Windows XP
ATI Radeon
ATI TV Wonder VE
LAN Card
576 SDRAM (3 sticks)
300 watt ps

Thanks for any help,
Scott
