WINDOW ULTIMATE DOES NOT FINISH INSTALL

I HAVE A SHUTTLE SFF WITH AN AND FX62-DUAL CORE, 4G OF DDR-800 MEMORY AND AN ATI X600 CARD WITH A NEW SEAGATE 400G HARD DRIVE. I GO THRU THE VISTA INSTALL PROCESS, IT GETS TO FINISHING INSTALL, REBOOTS, I GET THE MOVING BARS, THEN THE SCREEN GOES BLANK, THE DRIVE HAS ACTIVITY FOR A MINUTE OR 2 WHILE THE SCREEEN IS BLANK, THEN NOTHING HAPPENS - THE SCREEN STAYS BLANK. IF I HARD SHUT DOWN, I GET THE SCREEN WITH A SAFE MODE STARTUP, BUT IF I USE THAT, IT SAYS I CANNOT START FROM SAFE MODE AND HAVE TO GO BACK TO THE INSTALL. IM STUCK. HELP!!!!!

Do you OC your CPU, or is everything on the system running at stock?
 
Mine crashed about the same way after I did the MS updates. If it wants to do any MS updates automatically, don't let it do it. Install them one at a time manually. I had to do this and I found that it was a modem driver installed by MS update, that was crashing the system. My guess is that one of the drivers being loaded is the problem.
