Every time you upgrade your catalyst drivers to a newer version you need to create a restore point so if they cause more problems than the previous version you can revert back to them. Live and learn.
Use Driver cleaner 1.9 to remove any remaining ATI drivers download at
www.driverheaven.net/cleaner (sorry no link)
Now go into your control panel select add/remove programs
Select ATI conrol panel dont restart
Select ATI drivers restart abd reboot into safe mode hit (F8) several times while rebooting
Use driver cleaner to remove ATI files
Empty recycle bin
Reboot into normal mode
Cancel windows attempt to install drivers
Install the new ATI 3.6
