Window Media Player Gurus?

I Use several programs to make MP3s. However, I've a friend that is addicted to Windows Media Player. He likes to make WMAs, I guess. He says they are the best!

I added some music to his file, MP3s. He already has MP3s. Now he is upset because his program is broken.

How do you clear the library from Windows Media Player? I've refreshed, rebooted , etc.

It no longer recognizes a CD, and he can no longer burn. Thanks.

There's no way that adding a few MP3s to his library caused his CD drive to stop working. Something else happened and the timing is just a coincidence.

I installed Roxio Media Creator and apparently that caused the conflict with Windows Media Player.

I removed Roxio Media Creator and Windows Media Player works.

My friend is happy again.

Probably wasn't Media Creator specifically but probably some packet writing software that was installed along with it (Sonic DLA, Roxio Burn, Roxio Drag-to-Disc, DirectCD).

Those apps, like old HP "full" printer drivers & some antivirus suites, can screw up just about anything at any time for any reason.

What happened was Roxio captured the MP3 file associations. Those can be changed easily w/o uninstalling the program. This happens with many program installations.
