I'm trying to clean my car windows and I'm trying to use windex to clean them, i've getting anything BUT a streak free shine and I don't know why. I use windex at home and it seemingly works fine but I'm using it on my car windows and it's leaving streaks, why?

Man, there are tons of jokes here because of that title.

By the way, use old newspaper with the Windex

I get the same thing. I know that if you are a smoker, then the film will build up, but I don't smoke. And washing a front windshield is TOUGH. Someone should make a product that makes it easier.

Always happens. Personally, I use a dry piece of newspaper and it comes out great.

You guys are getting that because you're not getting all the dirt/grunge off the glass.

Buy an automotive window cleaner. Even ArmorAll's is pretty decent. You'll see a world of difference.

Auto glass gets totally different crap on it than your bathroom mirror. Windex is made for that bathroom mirror.

As a detailer I get this a lot, it could be caused by smoking, but it is always there because when the sun beats down on your car, it evaporates all the oils and dirt from your dash (especially if it is leather), and any other previous shine or cleaning products, and causes them to then get in the windshield, because obviously it cannot pass through it.

The best way to clean it is to get some water and rinse it once. Then get some spray on auto glass cleaner or windex is fine, and take a nice microfiber towel and continue to clean it. Make sure to only do one section at a time, as it needs to be wiped completely DRY right after cleaned, so it does not smear.

Smudges could also be do to interior cleaner getting on it accidently, amour all sprays are horrible. And, on the outside RainX always leaves a kind of smear if not applied right, like all windshield waxes.

That plus using newspaper to apply it equals, well, invisible glass.

Squisher gave you the answer already. Buy the Pump Spray at Walmart for about $3.50.

While you're on Stoner's site. Grab some Trim Shine for $35.70 for the case with free shipping. After you've used it, you'll consider that a Hot Deal!
