Winamp's randomness disfunctionality

I think I've read something here about this... People were complaining that Winamp doesn't skip to tracks randomly like it should when random is selected? I wasn't sure about this, but I've began to notice it more and more, and it's become increasing annoying. I hear the same songs over and over and over again, but if I go through my list of mp3s manually I discover songs I haven't heard in a long long time. What the fsck is up with that and what can I DO about it? What mp3 player DOES NOT do this? Is there a FIX for this in winamp, or a patch, or anything?

Inform me...

The winamps before 3 have messed up random functions. I have no idea how it is possible to screw up a random function, but Nullsoft seemed to have done it. Personally, I've noticed it likes to pick songs in certain number ranges.... it doesn't seem to get the low numbers very often... ugh, it pisses me off though.

another thing i dont like winamp for (and why i switched to music match) is the music library keeps adding these empty songs that have empty. Even though i delete em from the library, next time i turn winamp on, theyr eback. Its highly annoying

You can randomize your playlist and then play the list sequentially.
I think randomizing the playlist and then still playing with random on works as well... thank for the suggestion. i'd prefer to have everything ordered neatly, but if this will randomize properly, I'll use it this way. 🙂

Sure, n.p. 🙂 I dont think it's a huge deal to have the list out of order because Winamp3 can search the playlist if you're looking for a specific song.

It kinda sucks if you want to play through a specific CD in order, though.

I do that by hitting the "J" key in Winamp 2.x... how is that done in Winamp3?

I saw someone mention a "randomize window" in the options somewhere that defaults to 33% so you only get the first 1/3 of the songs in your list, I can't verify though since I havn't run WinAMP in a very long time.
