Winamp3 Using CPU a _LOT_ even when not playing?

Hi there...

This is probably in the wrong forum, but I think you guys will have an answer 🙂

I just grabbed Winamp3 over the older 2.7x mainly so I could use one of the new skins that I saw for it. Well, I just noticed today that when Winamp3 is running, and even when it is not playing anything, it is taking up anywhere from 05-25% CPU utilization ALL THE TIME and it fluctuates. When it is playing it takes up about 30-40% all the time, which is understandable. But, as soon as I close it, I'm back down to 1-2% utilization. What could this program possibly be doing when it's not playing?

I did not check these readings with Winamp 2.7x, so maybe it's the same thing, I dunno...

What does everyone think? It seems like a waste of CPU cycles to me...

EDIT: Updated my numbers to be more exact as to what I'm seeing.

Nevermind. It seems to have settled down now. I guess it was doing something for the time when I noticed it acting strange.

😀

I would keep an eye on it. I run Winamp 2.79 at work with Outlook, IE, and usually one or two other things running.

With Winamp playing, I still get 0-1 on CPU utilization.

Yeah, it still seems to be hogging a lot of power--I don't really like that, so I think I'll go back to the latest Winamp2 until Winamp is out of beta.
