Winamp Volume Issue

Whenever I change the volume of Winamp, the volume of my Ventrilo (for example) also changes in proportion to the adjustment in Winamp. If no music is playing when I change the volume, nothing changes in Ventrilo, but the second I hit play the adjustment is immediately made to my Ventrilo. This never used to happen, and I have not used Winamp for a while. I like to play my music really quiet so I can hear people on Ventrilo if they speak, but turning Winamp down makes Ventrilo quiet as well.

Suggestions?

Try this.

Go to Winamp preferences. Under plugins, go to Output and then go to Waveout preferences. Hit enable/disable. See if that works.

instead of winamp, does this happen to you in windows media player also?

which OS are you using? Vista?

If your sound card or motherboard audio has some 'normalization' feature, perhaps this is enabled and causing the aformentioned effects.
