Winamp volume control changes Augidy 2 Wave volume control?

Before with my Aureal Vortex 2, I would set the volume at max and the Wave thing at max too, then control the volume with my speakers volume knob and the Winamp volume control.

Now I installed the Audigy 2, and Creative replaced the old volume control with it's own, and now whenever I change the volume in Winamp, it changes the entire Wave output volume, so all my other computer noises get softer and louder.

How do I fix this? So I can leave the Wave slider at a set thing in the Creative/Windows volume control panel, but let me change Winamp's independently. And no, it's not because I'm using the wave output setting in Winamp to play mp3's, it was at that same setting before with my vortex 2 soundcard.

Because I Like having my Windows volumes for everything else at the same level, but being able to change the Winamp volume

This is not General Hardware related.

Doubt there's any way to fix it. It doesn't happen with my Santa Cruz. You can just disable the Creative software, though of course you lose any special controls that it uses. It may still happen though due to the drivers themselves. RealPlayer for some reason has always done the same thing, no matter what audio card I've been using.

It's also suggested in every manual I've ever read that you set the Windows audio volume control to about 3/4, not maximum.

yea, but thats the thing, before with my vortex 2, it did not change the wave volume

another thing, i've noticed the vortex 2 sound quality to be far superior to the audigy 2... my mp3s seem too muddy or just lower quality now, kinda like it was playing from my car's stereo system or my CD Walkman... and yes my equalizer setting in winamp is the same and I have the same speakers.

Damnit, I'm an audiophile and I can't stand it

ditto, tbh i thought it was after installing some winamp plugin.
thought i saw soemthing about it either on the description for most recent audigy1 driver on creative sites or for the audigy2. Could be mistaken and DLing so cba checking.

xagent: maybe your sound quality is now so much better that you're noticing the terrible quality of your MP3's when you didn't notice it before. :)

Or maybe you just need to play with the stupid Creative sound control panel and tell it to stop using some "effect" that nobody ever uses except for 3 seconds to see how cool it is. Or get better speakers to go with your better soundcard.

jsut disable Sound Changing in winamp.

if you are using ..

DirectSound OUT > Other tab > uncheck "enable volume Control"
WaveOUT > uncheck ENABLE Volume Control

don't forget to close winamp and restart to make the changes change.
