i ripped these cd's using windows media player with the output as .mp3. when i try to drag them onto my ipod, itunes will not let me. when i look at the file properties it shows that it is a winamp media file type. i know i can convert them to m4a using itunes. i would like to stick with mp3 if possible. i tried using dbpoweramp but it did not pick up on the files in the folders. i have tried others and have gotten the same results.
i did a search on my drive for *.wma and it conveniently showed me the songs i cannot put on the ipod. but why doesnt the software see the files?
any suggestions?

I'm still using Cdex for ripping, but in any case I would avoid using Windows media player for the job.

show known file extensions, perhaps they are wma's that you think are mp3's.
