it seems sad that it's not actually WinAmp that is dead itself as a program, but their programming committee. AFAIK, WinAmp is still as popular as ever, and now with v5, you also have so many more benenfits also.

winamp was good for its time, then came foobar2k. kinda like IE vs FF: with exception of few stubborn people most agree the newcomer is marginally better in every respect. then again its not night and they difference.. they both get the job done, i just happened to think it makes more sense going with the better one, however little difference maybe. mp3 players arent some complex machines, learning curve is not a good excuse

XMMS does a good job under *NIX, but for Windows, Winamp is where it's at.

Used WinAmp since version 1.3c or so. Think I still have the install file. Ran that puppy on a smoking 486 dx2-66. Ran better on a 233MMX. Draw dropped running WinAmp on a 21164 at 500MHz. Close to negliglble performance hit for the first time in history.

Man, this should be criminal. Why does AOL destroy everything? Don't people f*cking get it that AOL is a piece of sh*t company that should in no way be supported?! ARGG the masses are so stupid!! Besides Nero and Windows, Winamp is one of the programs that I've used the longest (starting at 1.X). Dammit. I hate people.
