i forgot to back up my winamp plugin folder and i forgot what i had installed. i run HD600's and i can tell the difference between changes in sound. i currently use dfx. but i did have a input mp3 decoder plugin that filters out bad "parts" of mp3's.. anyone know of this or somethign related to this?

Cough, cough ............ (Hardware........:D)

But I hope the mods just move this to the software forum, because I am intrigued about that input plugin and I would like to have it also.

Unless its not free, EAC does a pretty decent job for me of making them without much noise, but I am not listening through anything close to audiophile level speakers so I couldn't say for sure anyway.

I don't know if this is the one you're looking for: MAD plugin for Winamp.

My buddy recommended it to me a while ago but I never got around to using it until a few weeks ago. It's wonderful! It sounds way better than the stock Winamp. I use an outboard D/A converter into my home stereo system (high-end stuff using tubes, my primary listeing source is LP's) and have never been too impressed with mp3/digital audio sound quality until I started using this plugin. The music seems to stand out from the background more clearly than before, there is less underlying "noise".The soundstage is also much more well-defined.

Give it a try, If you have enough resolution in your system I think you will be quite impressed.
