win98se won't boot except safemode, HELP

first off the specs:
dual boot Win XP/98SE
Giga-Byte 7zx-1 board via kt133

now the problem. i installed the newest via 4/1's first in xp, then booted to 98 and installed them there also. now win98 will only boot in safe mode. when i boot step by step the last two files that are loaded are:

viagart.vxd
msmouse.vxd

stops here no matter if i load msmouse or not. what should i do?
 
That's not good. 😛 Go into safe mode, and going into 'msconfig' via the "run" command. Disable your VxD's and see if that's what is causing the trouble.
 
didn't see anything about vxd in msconfig so i uninstalled the 4/1's and reinstalled an older version. no luck. installed all but the agp driver, didn't work. installed agp in turbo and then normal, nothing.

the newest 4/1's are installed in the xp partition, and they work. any other ideas, or specifics on disabling the vxds?
 
Go into Dos mode and Type
C:\windows\command\scanreg/restore

Choose a version thats a few days old.
 
I would try NOT enabling that viagart.vxd one...I think that there was a problem w/ them back a few...and maybe U encountered it 🙂 did U ck. VIA's website?
