So recently I Gdisked my bros Gateway2000 and installed his version of win98 first edition. I then tried to install his Intel Lan/USB wireless router and there were driver issues. After two days of screwing around, Gateway said I needed to update win98(but I can't without an Internet connection, and I'm not doing dialup for just this). I'd give him my legit winXP but his 233Mhz and 128 MB RAM would suck for XP. I may also be able to get a legit copy of Win2000Pro, but I've never installed that, and cannot foresee the ease or probs with it.

So I found a copy of Win98 SE, but I'm not sure about using the key it came with. If it has been used a bunch, will I have a problem when registering, as in heat? Or a prob with updating(I found that unoffical update for 98SE and can use that if it's a better idea)?

I'm sorry if this is a bad subject, but I think $60 for a program thats nolonger supported is way too steep. Feel free to PM me if you don't want to respond here. Thanks for reading this and helpful insight is Appreciated!!!

Alas, it was all supposed to be SOOO simple. Ha, the story of my life.
PS: mods feel free to delete/edit this if I'm pi$$ing you off. If i am, I'm sorry.

Why do you think you have to register WIN98SE ????

Just install the thing and see if it flies.

So there isn't a 30 day limit on not registering... Is that just for XP? Jee-Wiz, sorry. That makes things a million times easier, Thanks.
