Well right now I have a home network with two computers sharing at home cable through my system, internal netgear 10/100 and a usb netgear 10bt adapter since two internals don't want to work in my system.

My question is how much better is a router setup? is it worth the 100 over what I have now? will the speed of both computers improve that much?

I am seriusly considering a router since the usb adapter has an issue with my soundcard, draws too much juice and if the self powered usb hub that I just bought does not fix it I will go the router route.

Also I play alot of FPS online, which router is better-the netgear or the linksys? I have heard of issues with the linksys but also have heard the netgear is a beotch to set up?

sorry if I didn't do a search for this answer but I was looking for some specific advice and I am at work right now and here time is of the essence.

any opinins/advice regarding this matter would be greatly appreciated thanks

Get the netgear it works flawlessly and never needs any fine tuning. I run it on my system and have had no downtime. The setup is very easy, others will tell you that the menu isn't detailed enough, but I don't think you'll have any problems. Here is my setup
@home cable ISP
sb 3100 modem
netgear 310 cards
netgear rt311 router
netgear fs108 switch.

if you don't want to buy a switch/hub get the netgear 314 built in switch

well I allready have a netgear 4 port 10bt hub that I picked up for 30 bucks half a year ago so I was just planning on using that. I guess if the usb hub doesnt solve my sound issues I will be picking up a netgear router this weekend
