I have just spent far too much time searching the Microsoft Knowledge Base for help with the above... grrrr.... it returned 200 possible matches... but none that matched mine and now I'm a victim of too much information. Any one know what this is all about:? or can share tips on how to use that dang database? Appreciate any help. Thanks.

An exception OE has occurred at 0028:CD7ADFEA in VxD AFVXD(01) + 0000164A.
This was called from 0028:C1842AB4 in VxD PPPMAC(04) + 00007B14.

It may be possible to connect normally...press any key or altcontroldelete.

A VxD crash is due to a hardware "virtual device driver". Try updating all your hardware drivers to the most recent versions.

Well, it doesn't appear to be the modem itself, but the virtual device driver that wraps around the modem. Most likely, the virtual PPP network device configured in dial-up networking.
