I have win98-se on a asus p5a amd k6-2+ system with 2 Maxtor 20 gb hard drives and a 24x cdr. Recently developed 2 problems I can not resolve. I posted this on software forum but it was suggested it might be better posted here. any help would be appreciated.
1. while the bootup bios screen and the windows device manager both tell me I have both hard drives only one appears in the control panel. When I checked in the device manager only one has been assigned a drive letter - 'c' the other does not have an assigned letter. The cdr is assigned the letter 'e'. Any help in resolving this would be appreciated.
2. the cdr is loaded - it is in the device manger and is assigned a drive letter 'e' but when I try to access it I get the message e:/ not accessible' - 'drive not ready' - I have tried numerous cd's and that doesn't change a thing. I tried putting in another cdr form my other machine and I get the same problem. any advise???
