I have long since migrated from Win98, Me, etc... But a friend of mine has Win98SE on her computer, and everytime she starts word, she gets an error...

She has tried uninstalling word and reinstalling word, and has tried reinstalling windows...

any other suggestions?

here's the error message:
WINWORD caused an invalid page fault in module winword.exe @ 0187:303e4fBD

theres more but i think thats enough to get the idea...

is this a memory error?

Can you go into the registry and remove any traces of the Word? I'm guessing when she reinstalled she didn't format first?

yeah, thatd be my guess too...

unfortunately shes not too into computers, and I can't get access to the computer

well fixing the reg might do the trick. since you cant get there, does she need it BADLY. enough to reformat. I hate that word but if she out of work and doing resumes or something like that, reformating would be easy if she has onboard sound and video. all you'd have to do is walk her through making the start up disk, and whola!

Uninstall Word, or if you have the complete MS Office, uninstall the whole thing. Then copy the entire cd to a temp folder on your hard drive and install from your hard drive. This may do the trick.
