Greetings,

Just looking for advice. I'm redoing my PC and don't know which OS I should put on it. My PC is primarily used for games which I think pretty much rules out NT and 2000. I don't need anything XP has and am fine with my current Win98. However, I don't know what is different in 98SE. Is SE any more stable, faster, less prone to crashing etc? Or did it just add the networking/sharing components and leave the actual OS totally unchanged?

What would your recommendation be?

Thanks.

Win98se is newer, so it has a better driver base, it's a tad bit more stable, and just an overall better version on win98. You won't take any compatibility or performance hits, so if you can pick 98se up for cheap or if you already have it, I don't see why you wouldn't install it over 98...

I agree with AndyHUI (funnily enough.) The WDM support alone makes it worthwhile.
That said, unless you're running really old games, install Windows 2000. Every recent game (past 4 years or so) will run fine and it's simply a better OS.
