I isntalled the intel chipset update so 98 recognizes my 815e chipset..

after when i shutdown..it freezes at the Waiting to Shutdown Screen.

I isntaled the microsoft win98 shutdown supplement..but it didnt work..

any ideas?

Are you running a lot of programs in the background or loading them at startup? That can cause your system to hang at shutdown. Try this... go Start then Run and type msconfig then hit enter. Uncheck the Load startup group items box and reboot to see if it still hangs. If it does then you know something in the startup is stoping it from shutting down.

good luck

Another thing to try after running msconfig is to select the tab at the top (can't remember name of tab right now?) and find a listing of checkboxes. One of them is labeled "disable fast shutdown". If this is checked uncheck it, if it is not checked check it.

Try it.
