Your opinions please.... I have an older laptop (P90 40mb ram) I only use this for surfing etc when @home is down. I am presently running 98 SE but I use Netscape( I know I know....) my question is does anyone run 98 lite? Seems this may be a good option for my ageing laptop? Any opinions?

I personally love 98Lite, and I run Win98SE Lite on all my computers.

If you are currently running 98 SE stand alone on the laptop, then running Lite will make it just that much better. With Lite, you can remove IE from a Windows installation, therefore making it easy to install Netscape.

Yes and you can remove all those unnecessary "features" that Microsoft stuffed in their OSes. ;)

98lite is a utility (i guess that's what you could call it) that can slim down and speed up your Windows installation.

The preview only lets you uninstall IE and a couple of other things. The Pro version lets you uninstall almost EVERYTHING!!! :D

If I remember correctly, I am dual booting it w/ Linux. Now that you mention it, i'd kind of like to know for sure, but there's no way in hell I'm going to ruin my uptime by rebooting :)

Another recommendation for 98lite.
Also have you tried Opera? I've heard many people appreciate it's small size and speed on older systems.

I have tried Opera in the past, just to test it out and play with it. You are correct though that is certainly a good option for my laptop. Thanks.

Is there any option in win98SE to keep the quicktask bar/IE integration and take out the actual IE that comes with it?

98lite screwed up my 98se system big time.. i used to like it.. but since the last two installations.. uggh..! left my system unusable.. ie would crash.. notpad, wordpad, wouldn't run.... wierd... dunno why..

If you wanna install 98lite.. why not go with win95..?
