Win98 cannot print via Win2k

Here's the scenario. I had a Windows 98 computer and Windows ME on a network. Windows ME shared printer with Win98. However, Windows ME has now become Windows 2000 (upgraded). Win98 recognizes Win2000, however, Win2000 cannot see Win98, therefore, Win98 cannot print document. Any idea what seems to be the problem? Thanks!

You need to have the same user ID and PW thast the Win98 PC is using on the 2000 machine..and enable file&Print sharing on the 2000 machine.
What happens is the 2000 machine wont let things pass through, unless it knows who you are (by ID and PW)..98 lets things just go right through...

Another thing I forgot to mention is the UserName and Password. I had checked that the Win 2K is sharing files and printer. When I follow the wizard of Add New Printer in the Win98 computer, through Network Printer, it does find the Win 2K UserName and the printer. When I highlight Win 2K's printer with OK, a screen tells me the UserName of Win 2K "\IPC(with a dollar sign on the C)", and a box to type in the Password. Typing Win 2K's password in the dialog box -- it is inaccessible, or of wrong password. LowerCase, UpperCase doesn't matter. It still won't go through. However, Win98 still recognizes printers from different computers using Windows ME and XP.

What may be the cause of this? Thanks in advance.

You enabled file and printer sharing, but is sounds like you haven't actually shared your comp or printer. The $ sign on the C denotes admin share, it can't be touched. You have to share you C drive as C, then share your printer. Should work then.

So what I do on the Win 2K, is under Sharing, you want me to click on the New Share? How should I enable the share comp/printer? Would I have to sign on as an Administrator and/or User. Thanks in advance.
