win98 and win2k... how to network???

I'm running a win98 pc and my bro has his running on win2k.

now don't ask me why he chooses to run win2k. fact is he likes it and doesn't want to change his OS.

both of us are connected by LAN cable to a linksys router and sharing a cable connection.
we can both connect to the internet through this setup but there is no way for me to detect his computer on a workgroup or anything.

so how is it possible for me to share files with him and vice versa?

getting really frustrated...

If you can't even see his computer on your PC, then there's some really basic networking problem going on here (has nothing to do with him running win2k)... Check all the usual stuff (workgroup, subnet, etc)...

Once you are able to see his computer, you will have to create an account on his win2k PC with your computer's username so you can access his files... Another option is to enable Guest accounts on his PC but that's more dangerous...

win98 is more simple... Just select the desired directories as shared and he should be able to see it...
