Is it possible to install windows98 or ME on a sata hdd?
I want to build a system strictly for emulation using the fastest hdd possible under win9x.

Windows 9X is dead. WHy would you be using it on new technology? I sure hope the only purpose is for running legacy programs that flat out won't work in Windows 2000 or XP. That is tyhe only logical reason for using such a POS OS these days.

It should detect the sata as a normal IDE drive. So yes, you should be able to install windows 98 on it.

The main reason for this is to have the least amount of overhead possible. I will only be using the system for mame, epsxe, nes, snes, sega, etc. I just need to know for sure if it will work.

use windows 2000 for stability. overhead is a non-issue since you shouldn't need very much power at all to do emulation.
